This version of Evo’s website is completely built on the WordPress platform. It is what is sometimes referred to as a “blogsite.” About 98% of the site can be edited within WordPress; the rest involves hacks and changes that must be made directly to the code. We did this in part to demonstrate WordPress’ flexibility as a Content Management System, and in part to gain a greater page rank boost for our website by associating it more closely with EvoBloggito, our blog.

We used a beta version of Evo4 CMS, a theme we developed specifically for blogsites. Website layout is CSS-based: the only tables on the website display tabular data, which is what HTML tables are meant for. Fonts are Arial/Helvetica/sans-serif. Evo4 CMS theme is available to other WordPress developers under GPL.

Several WordPress plugins were used. Among those, we consider the following to be most important to this particular website: Akismet, Dagon Design Sitemap Generator, Google XML Sitemap, Multi-level Navigation Plugin, Contact Form 7, and Dean’s FCKEditor. All of these (and many more) are available free from WordPress.org.

The website utilizes the jQuery library and the following jQuery plugins: jCarousel Lite, ThickBox, JQuery Cycle, and Watermark Input.
